NEW Award Announcement:
Excellence in Teaching Russian at K-12 Level in Community-Based and Online After-School, Weekend, and Summer Programs
ACTR is pleased to announce a new award recognizing outstanding educators who teach Russian to K-12 students in community-based settings. This award honors instructors working in community-based Russian language institutions, including both in-person and online schools and camps (after-school/weekend/summer) at the elementary, middle, or high school level.
Eligibility
| 2026 ACTR Award for Excellence in Teaching Russian at the K-8 Level: Alena Antashkevich Alena Antashkevich is the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Russian Award for Grades K-8. |
| 2026 ACTR Award for Excellence in Teaching Russian at the 9-12 Level: Vlada Jackson Vlada Jackson is the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Russian Award for Grades 9-12. She teaches at Vineland High School. |
| 2026 ACTR Excellence in Teaching Russian at the K-12 Level in Community-Based and Online After-School, Weekend, and Summer Programs: Lyudmila Andreyeva Lyudmila Andreyeva is the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Russian Award at the K-12 Level in Community-Based and Online After-School, Weekend, and Summer Programs. She founded and teaches at the Russian school "Chyku Net." |
Eligibility
Public or private educational institutions at the elementary, middle, or high school level (K-8 and 9-12 level awards)
Nominations for 2025-2026 are closed. Nominations for 2026-2027 will open in Fall 2026.The ACTR Award for Excellence in Teaching Russian Committee seeks to select candidates who demonstrate high-leverage teaching practices, enthusiasm for learning Russian, and the ability to serve as influential advocates for teaching Russian on a regional and national basis. Awards are given in three categories: K-8 level, 9-12 level, and community-based and online after-school, weekend, and summer programs at the K-12 level. Final winners are notified and publicly announced at the annual ACTR membership meeting. Recipients are featured on the ACTR website, in the ACTR Newsletter, and on social media.
